Steven Carter
E&P Chief Information Officer – Western Hemisphere
BP

Steven Carter is the Chief Information Officer for BP Exploration & Production (E&P) in the Western Hemisphere and is a member of E&P IT&S Global Leadership team.  Steven rejoined BP in 2009 as the CIO for its Gulf of Mexico business.  In his current role he provides technology vision and leadership to over 150 IT professionals and is accountable for the end-to-end delivery of IT Services to six strategic performance units and 10,000 business users across the Americas.

Before rejoining BP, he was co-founder and Principal of Eiro Consulting, a small professional services firm that specialized in the business and technical aspects of e-commerce in the Oil and Gas Industry.  Previously he was Vice President Operations at Wellogix, Inc, a provider of business solutions and Vice President of Technology and General Manager of the RigInsight business line with OneOffshore, Inc. an oil industry information and research company.

Steven has over 25 years of technical and operational experience in the upstream energy business and started his career in the UK as a Petroleum Engineer with BP. During his first twelve years with BP, he undertook a variety of technical and business roles in the US, Europe and Middle and Far East.

Steven holds a BS degree in Petroleum Engineering from the Royal School of Mines, London. He is a registered Professional Engineer and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

George Walker

Foundation Surgical Hospital

Mr. Walker is an Information Technology executive with over twenty years of integrated technology and business experience. Mr. Walker is currently the Chief Information Officer at Foundation Surgical Hospital, FSH, located in Bellaire, TX. At Foundation, Mr. Walker is overseeing the implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Management (ERP) system.

Prior to Foundation, Mr. Walker was Executive Vice President and Chief Information officer for RediClinic (formerly InterFit) for eight years. At RediClinic, Mr. Walker guided the development of a priority web-based electronic health record, which was used to run sixty clinics in 6 states.  Mr. Walker also led the development of RediStaff, RediClinic’s proprietary event staffing system, which enabled the staffing of over 20,000 health professionals across the United States.  Mr. Walker is the Former Vice President of Marketing and Technology at Belmont Corporation. He was the Manager of North American Server Marketing at Compaq Computer.  Mr. Walker’s initial technology experience was with Shell Oil Company as a Systems Administrator.  Mr. Walker has a BBA from Loyola University and a MBA from Rice University.

 


Lucas Waggenaar

Lucas began his career in information technology in 1979 as a field engineer at Nixdorf Computers in the Netherlands. In 1985, he moved to Canada where he continued to work for Nixdorf as a systems engineer in Calgary, Alberta. Following IT positions in several other companies, Lucas joined Westcoast Gas Services as manager, IT. After the company was acquired by Engage Energy, he was promoted to director of IT and infrastructure in 1997. In 2001, he assumed a new role at El Paso Corporation in Houston as director of technology and information services. He joined SYSCO in February 2007 from Eagle Global Logistics where he served as vice president, IT services. Lucas earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Institute of Technology in Amersfoort, The Netherlands in 1976. In addition, he earned a certificate as a business programmer/analyst (S.A.I.T.) in Calgary, Alberta in 1985.


Allan Skov

Black Stone Minerals Company

Mr. Skov joined Black Stone in November 2009 as Chief Information Officer. He is responsible for all information technology and mapping operations. Prior to Black Stone, Mr. Skov was Vice President Information Technology and other roles with Duke Energy and Duke Energy’s joint venture with ConocoPhillips, DCP Midstream. Prior to Duke Energy, his career was in Canada including CIO of Newfoundland Power and a number of business and technology senior leadership roles with Union Gas.

Mr. Skov received Bachelor of Commerce and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Windsor in Ontario Canada.

Bob Frazier is the Director of Technology of Houston Electric at Center Point Energy with 34 years of IT management experience in operations, PC and LAN deployment, security, application development, audit and executive consulting.  CenterPoint focus was utility customer systems including, CIS, SAP CCS, Mobile Data, CTI/VRU, metering, etc. supporting call centers, field service reps, billing, bill print, receivables and reporting.  Past four years on Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) and Intelligent Smart Grid including regulatory filing and settlement negotiations, Design consulting for SAP CCS AMI design initiative (LightHouse), Texas Common Portal, vendor proposal and bid evaluation / selection, project contracts and designated CNP management committees.  In progress for Intelligent Distribution Grid Management systems.  Six years - US Navy Supply Officer – Data Center operations and fleet inventory, financial and IT auditor.  14 years in reserve in various senior and command jobs including Navy Research Laboratory and Naval Space Command.  BS - Computer System Analysis - Miami University, Oxford OH, MS - Operations Research / Systems Analysis - US Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey CA, Eagle Scout, past Cubmaster Pack 11 and 14 years as Treasurer for Troop 11, 10 year committee member & Past President - Information Technology Management Association - Houston Chapter,  Avid tennis player

Mr. Webster is a seasoned, senior IT leader with deep experience providing information technology solutions within the Energy and Power industries for Global 250 Companies. He previously served as the VP & CTO, Global Infrastructure of BG Group PLC where he was responsible for the global infrastructure strategy, operations, outsourcing oversight, and drove their infrastructure transformation program across the global enterprise.  Prior to joining BG, Mr. Webster was a Senior Manager, Solutions Architect at Accenture.  He also served as the Director of Enterprise Architecture and Infrastructure Engineering at Calpine Corporation, where he was awarded Calpine’s prestigious "CEO Innovation Award" for Calpine's number 5 overall (number 1 in the Energy Sector) ranking in Information Week's 2005 'Top 100 Innovators.'  Mr. Webster has twenty years of experience in designing and implementing solutions and services in the energy industry.  He is an active member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and holds a B.A in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.B.A in Finance from the University of Houston Bauer College of Business.

Norman is a Managing Director at UHY Advisors TX, LLC and is a member of its Executive Committee. He leads IT audit, security, and consulting services. Norman has significant experience in IT Governance, Information Strategy, and Business Process Re-engineering.  He is also the firm’s National Practice Leader for Governance, Risk, and Compliance.

Norman is an adjunct professor at the C.T. Bauer School of Business, University of Houston – where he teaches courses in Business Ethics, Advanced Internal Audit, and Governance Risk & Compliance. He is currently a member of a number of boards, leadership, and advisory councils for the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) - Greater Houston Chapter and The Open Compliance and Ethics Group (OCEG), a not-for-profit think tank focused on improving corporate governance, risk, and compliance practices. Norman served on Microsoft’s Business Intelligence Advisory Council in 2001 and 2002 and is an alumnus instructor of The Data Warehousing Institute.

Norman was President of GCRM Solutions, LLC before merging with UHY Advisors in November 2006. Prior to UHY Advisors, he was a principal with three other consulting firms providing technology and management consulting services to Fortune 1000 companies. Norman held audit, accounting, and finance roles of increasing responsibility at Texaco, Inc. and Compaq Computer Corporation. He began his career in finance at Oppenheimer & Company. Norman graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. He has a Masters of International Business and an MBA in Marketing, both from the University of St. Thomas.

Bryant Price is the President and CEO of Agama Advertising. He is an accomplished businessman and well-recognized in the fields of business, advertising and strategic marketing.Bryant began his career in broadcast television working for an NBC affiliate where has served in nearly every field of television production. In 1987, he opened Price Video Productions creating industrial and training programs for clients like Alcoa, Union Carbide and BP Chemicals. Under Bryant’s leadership, the company has expanded into a full-service integrated agency providing professional marketing strategy, design, production and web services. During this expansion, the company was rebranded as Agama Advertising. Agama’s work has been recognized in local and district ADDY competitions, the Telly Awards, and the Technical Achievement Awards, among others.Bryant currently serves as VP of Marketing for the Houston Strategic Forum, is on the Executive Committee of the Victoria County United Way and on the Board of the Victoria Northside Rotary. Mr. Michael Pattison’s career spans 35 years in the process manufacturing and technology industries. As the CIO Technology Leadership at Sterling Chemicals, he successfully managed multiple information technology and engineering organizations and created numerous industry best practices. Sterling Chemicals, a privately held corporation, manufactures acetic acid and plasticizers at their Texas City facility. Sterling Chemicals generally sells petrochemicals products to customers for use in the manufacture of other chemicals and products, which in turn are used in the production of a wide array of consumer goods and industrial products. In addition to Sterling Chemicals, Michael also held a key process industry operations role within Dow Chemical, and regularly found new ways to apply proven technologies to improve plant performance. Michael’s past experiences included working with IBM in consulting & Aspen Technology in product management recommending technology solutions to improve manufacturing operations performance in the process industries. Michael graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and have been a recognized speaker at AspenTech’s Amsterdam Enterprise Conference, MIT Enterprise Forum and a Founding Board Member of Techxans & TechExecs. Michael has also been the subject matter expert within articles in magazines such as Managing Automation.

Linda found her forte in technology in the late 90’s with DirecTV high speed internet systems via satellite and managing training/execution sessions throughout Texas.  Linda has experienced Blackberry technology with Cingular Corporate assisting major accounts with their communications needs.  Working closely with IT/CIO Staff;  partnered with companies to integrate IT best practices for wireless networks, Microsoft applications, Managed Services  Programs with N-able; Symantec Security Audit Services and Web design. Linda joined OFIS Communications in 2008 with a focus on LifeSize High Definition Video Conferencing and the # 1 ShoreTel VOIP system.  Throughout her career, Linda has been involved in her community by serving as Vice President of her HOA’s; Election Judge Precinct 4; Greater Houston Partnership, Woodland Chamber of Commerce, Working with women in Self Esteem Programs and as a Jazzercise instructor/client for over 21 years.  She is also involved with ITEC IT organizations and Vice Chair of the Houston Chapter of Techxans/Tech Execs.  Linda has called Houston home since 1982 and currently lives in The Woodlands.  Also the proud mother of 3 fine sons.

Prior to working full time at TechExecs National, Rick served as the Dallas TechExecs Chapter Vice Chair for two years. He is presently responsible for managing all national forum and social events along with cultivating relationships with TechExecs Coprorate Sponsors.

Rick begin his technology career at the young age of 16 when he created dithering in 1980 to create millions of colors on an Apple II which was “limited” to only 8 colors 5 years before it came to regular use in software.  His early telecom career allowed him the pleasure of working with American Airlines, ATT, Sprint, US Postal Service, several Republican Party campaigns, various religious organizations and Non-Profits such as Special Olympics. At one point he was managing the accounts for 9 different companies including several insurance companies, US Postal Service and the Nielson Rating surveys.   In 1990 Rick bought out his employer and re-launched the business as Trans-Tech Services Inc.  He quit college to dedicate more time to the business, and applied his knowledge of systems analysis and design to transform the internal processes; from sales to shipping.  He mirrored a Xenix system to Windows and created a CRM program from scratch.  He developed “Collision Vision”; a computerized automotive estimating system.  Within 3 years Trans-Tech had tripled in size to over 17,000 business customers nationwide selling software and systems, and other specialty items.   In 1995 finished 8 years with the United States Navy Reserves

In 1998 he started a web design consultancy RKDIA providing dynamic  web design for various web based retailers and web based auction sites.   Since 2000 he has provided his telecommunications expertise through Time Warner, Cypress, Birch Telecom, Centric Voice, and XO Communications. He has helped hundreds of businesses position their telecommunications resources for efficient and profitable results. He is proud to have helped Dallas Food Bank and Make-a-Wish Foundation as part of his many successful strategies to increase productivity and profitability.  Rick has built a personal network of several hundred business contacts.  Rick has three boys, two are well on their way to becoming Eagle Scouts and one is a Bear Cub scout. They enjoy weekend adventures throughout Texas.
